Tongtai QVM Series – Long Travel Moving Column Milling & Tapping Centers

The Tongtai QVM-610A x 2,000 – 6,000 long travel moving column milling and tapping center is a heavy duty yet fast CNC milling and tapping center. The machines are designed to machine either long narrow workpieces or enable multiple set-ups with the work table sectioned into a variety of safe work zones. With X-axis travels of 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 meters and Y-axis travel of 16.4″ (416 mm) [23.6″/31.5″, 600 mm/800 mm optional] the machine meets a wide variety of applications. The machine is a traveling column type design where the worktable is stationary.

The machines feature Meehanite cast iron frames and linear slideways for high rigidity and reliable, fast movement. A large diameter (63mm [2.5]) ballscrew supports long X axis travel, with 40mm (1.57″) diameter ballscrews employed on the Y and Z axes. All ballscrews are Class 3 with a double nut pre-loaded design that permits a rapid traverse rate of 944 ipm (24 m/min) in Y and Z axes. The ABS (Absolute Pulse Coder) servo system does not require zero return and enables the machine to be started from any position, saving non-productive time. Standard twin-screw type chip conveyors on each side of the table and caterpillar style chip transport at the end of the machine provide efficient and automated chip removal.

A standard 24- station high speed arm type automatic tool changer provides fast, reliable tool changes. The oil-cooled 10,000 rpm spindle is driven by a 20 hp motor with electronic high/low switch gear to provide excellent torque throughout the rpm range. Rigid tap speed up to 10,000 rpm is standard.

The Fanuc OiM-F control can be equipped with high speed machining options with up to 200 block look ahead, Ethernet connection, and Manual Guide i Conversational to meet the requirements of almost any application.
