The five-machine series of Tongtai TMV 40/50 taper series high-speed vertical machining centers combine speed, rigidity and precision. Large NSK linear ways on all axes with large diameter pre-tensioned ballscrews, and a large diameter rigid spindle facilitate heavy cutting in both 40 and 50 taper applications. Heavy Meehanite FC-30 castings provide strength and dampen vibrations.
The machines offer X-Y-Z travel of 41″ x 24″ x 20″ (1041 mm x 610 mm x 508 mm) to 79″x 30″ x 28″ (2006 mm x 762 mm x 711 mm). Table sizes range from 43″ x 24″ (1092 mm x 610 mm) to 83″ x 30″ (2108 mm x 762 mm).
Standard spindles are 20 hp, with maximum speeds from 10,000 to 16,000 rpm and application of 40- or 50-taper tooling depending on the specific machine model. High power servo motors permit rapids up to 1,890 ipm (48 m/min) [708 ipm (18 m/min) on the larger machines] in the X- and Y-axes with fast acceleration and deceleration. The Z-axis is constructed without a mechanical counterbalance and therefore is well suited for high feed rates.
A 24-tool automatic tool changer (30 tools optional) and belt spindle drive is standard on all except the smallest machine, which has a 30 tool changer and direct drive standard.
A wide selection of options allows users to tailor machine capabilities to specific production needs. Typical choices include through-spindle coolant, 4th and 5th rotary axes, and high speed machining packages.
